Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) seeks a Contractor in Charge to oversee construction, maintenance, and safety compliance for freight railroads, transit systems, state DOTs, and rail industry partners in Gillette, WY.

The CIC will manage worksite safety, communicate with dispatchers and engineers, and ensure FRA compliance during track operations. Travel 50%–85% is expected, with multiple deployments and thorough training requirements.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a railroad company (maintenance of way or TY&E preferred).
• Successfully completes all required federal, client, and company-specific training.

Responsibilities

• Oversee worksite safety and provide flagging services when needed.
• Ensure compliance with FRA regulations (49 CFR 214) and safety policies.
• Monitor track conditions and coordinate with train dispatchers and engineers.
• Document all activities, including briefings, logs, and reports for management and regulators.
• Enforce all Railroad, State, and Federal Policies.
