Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking a Contractor in Charge (CIC) in Riverton, WY to oversee construction, maintenance, and safety compliance for freight railroads, transit systems, and state DOTs.

The CIC will lead safety-focused work, conduct job briefings, and ensure FRA compliance within track limits, while coordinating with train crews and management. Applicants should be prepared for substantial travel and possess a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years' railroad experience preferred (maintenance of way or TY&E).
• Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Oversee worksite safety and provide flagging services as needed.
• Ensure FRA regulations (49 CFR 214) compliance during track work.
• Monitor track conditions and approaching trains to keep personnel safe.
• Coordinate train movements with dispatchers, engineers, and supervisors.
• Document job briefings, incidents, daily logs, and regulatory submissions.
• Enforce railroad, state, and federal policies.
