Railroad Public Projects Manager - Civil (Remote)

We seek a motivated Public Project Manager to join our Railroad team, supporting projects across the Western U.S., especially California and Arizona. You will work under the Group Manager, collaborating with other Project Managers to oversee railroad public projects. This mid-level role offers growth opportunities and project management training within the railroad industry.

Our Railroad Division includes experienced rail professionals, many former employees of operating railroads, enabling us to develop innovative solutions for various rail projects.

Location

Applicants should be based in the Western U.S., preferably California or Arizona, to support projects and travel to sites.

The Impact You Will Have

1. Manage railroad projects and coordinate with local and state government agencies.
2. Handle initial project requests impacting railroad property/right of way.
3. Communicate with railroad managers and coordinate efficiently.
4. Review work plans and manage project updates and databases.
5. Monitor budgets, scope, and schedules.
6. Coordinate inspections and construction monitoring.
7. Prepare reports, conduct meetings, and maintain client relationships.
8. Coordinate with sub-consultants and assist with contracts.
9. Assist in contract negotiations and compliance.
10. Verify invoices and support contract compliance.
11. Travel as needed (approx. 90% office, 10% travel).
12. Maintain records and oversee daily operations.

What We Are Looking For

1. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, proficiency with MS Office and PDF.
2. Project management experience, ability to handle multiple projects.
3. Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering or related field.
4. Leadership qualities and ownership of projects.
5. Preferably located in California or Arizona; remote work possible.
6. Experience managing multi-state projects from preliminary to construction phases.
7. Knowledge of railroad and highway infrastructure, DOT processes is a plus.
8. Ability to collaborate effectively with agencies.
