Job summary

Springrecruits is seeking a dedicated safety professional to support the Company Safety Manager across multiple Atlanta-area project sites. You will help implement safety, health, training, and drug-free policies to protect personnel and ensure compliance.

You will develop safety strategies, deliver trainings, and conduct audits while collaborating with project teams and subcontractors to maintain a strong safety culture on site.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of progressive safety and health experience in construction industry.
• Safety Certification (CSP/CHST/ASP/OHST/CIH or NSC Advanced Safety Certificate); SST in NY if applicable.
• Valid driver’s license with driving record meeting company requirements.
• CPR/First Aid certification; instructor preferred (can be completed on hire).
• OSHA 30-hour training completed.
• OSHA 500/501 preferred.
• OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification for Hazardous Material Cleanup.
• MSHA mine safety knowledge preferred.
• High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor's preferred; degree in safety/health preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety and health training for Company personnel.
• Support pre-job safety planning meetings and develop emergency response plans.
• Lead safety and toolbox trainings to ensure policy communication.
• Conduct safety audits, evaluations, inspections, and observations; implement corrective actions.
• Assist in injury/illness/general liability investigations.
• Develop and issue regular safety correspondence.
• Provide updates on safety requirements to the team.
• Coordinate safety programs with subcontractors, vendors, and third parties.

General Description

Responsible for assisting the Company Safety Manager by providing field support services and assisting all project managers, supervisors, foreman, and team members with the implementation of all Company Safety, Health, Training, and Drug-Free policies and procedures

Responsibilities

• § Coordinate, implement, and monitor the Company Safety and Health Program at various project locations.
• § Assist in developing and implementing strategies for reducing and eliminating injuries, illness, and other incidents in a manner that effectively ensures the attainment of business unit targets and objectives.
• § Provide training for Company personnel regarding safety and health requirements.
• § Support pre-job safety planning meetings to plan for potential hazards and problems prior to the start of a job and develop emergency response plans for projects.
• § Initiate, coordinate, and lead safety and toolbox meetings and training programs to ensure effective communication of company policy and procedures.
• § Independently perform and document safety and health audits, evaluations, inspections, and/or behavioral observations throughout the Company's operations and communicate and facilitate the implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
• § Assist in the investigation of injury, illness, and general liability incidents.
• § Develop and issue regular safety and health correspondence.
• § Provide updated information to team members regarding updates to company or regulatory requirement changes.
• § Identify team members that need assistance, training, coaching, or support meeting the Company safety and health requirements.
• § Identify team members that perform their duties above and beyond their requirements and provide positive feedback to those individuals.
• § Coordinate project safety programs with subcontractors, vendors, and third-party personnel to ensure adherence to Company and Project safety policies and procedures.
• § Serve as a point of contact for any federal, state, or municipal safety or risk management authority and/or personnel, including but not limited to OSHA, when the Company Safety Manager is not available.
• § Regulatory compliance, and continual improvement of the overall performance of the Company in a manner that is consistent with the Company's Core Values.

Qualifications

• § Railroad Construction experience preferred.
• § Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, FRA, FTA, and EPA regulations as well as other state/federal safety regulations.
• § Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• § Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
• § Ability to think independently, communicate thoroughly, and implement all appropriate corrective and preventative actions.
• § Ability to work in a high production environment (40+ hours/week, including nights and weekends) and respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines.
• § Ability to make independent judgments to manage and facilitate company programs/policies as they relate to the safety of all work.
• § Ability to positively interact and influence front-line supervisors and field personnel to create a safe work environment.
• § Proficiency with OS Apple products (iPad).
• § Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat programs.

Additional Requirements

• Railroad Construction experience is preferred.
• Five (5) years of progressive experience with safety and health in the construction industry is preferred.
• Safety Certification Required (one of the following: CSP, CHST, ASP, OHST, CIH, National Safety Council’s Advanced Safety Certificate, and if working in New York - SST certification).
• § A valid driver's license and a driving record that meets Company requirements.
• § CPR/First Aid certification required, instructor preferred (certification can be completed upon hire).
• § OSHA 30-hour training completion required.
• § OSHA 500 or 501 (30-Hour and 10-Hour Trainer Certification) preferred.

Education and Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety and health or equivalent combinations of technical training and experience is preferred (project management of construction worksite policies and safety systems may be accepted in lieu of a degree in safety).

Work Conditions

• Work in extreme all-weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow and sleet).
• Able to walk on uneven surfaces over sometimes great distances.
• Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery; bend, walk, stand and sit for extended time.
• Exposed to loud noise.
• May be exposed to live track/trains and high voltage.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Must be willing to travel.
• May be required to work long hours including evenings and weekends.
