Job summary

Watco is seeking a Conductor/Engineer to control and coordinate train movements, switching railcars in yards, plants, or terminals to safely service customers. This is a manual labor role requiring proficiency in procedures during a prescribed training period.

Responsibilities include following directions, reading orders, coordinating crew activities, and maintaining safety and time schedules. The position involves direct locomotive operation and communication with supervisors and other yard

Qualifications

• Read, write, and communicate in English; understand basic math.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate predictable, reliable, and timely attendance.
• Follow directions to complete tasks on schedule.
• Read switching orders from designated person and supervise train crews.
• Operate locomotive following railroad rules and signals; interpret signals and bulletins.
• Coordinate switching operations and communicate with crew via radio or signals.
• Inspect equipment and maintain records of cars switched.
