Job summary

OL&B Railway seeks a skilled railcar maintenance technician to inspect, repair and service freight cars, perform welding, mechanical work and general duties. Expect 25% welding, 25% equipment, 40% mechanical and 10% other tasks, with a 6:45 am–2:45 pm schedule on weekdays and occasional overtime or on-call shifts.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Welding or trade training helpful but not required.
• Railcar repair experience helpful but not required.
• Must learn AAR car repair regulations and tools.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely.

Responsibilities

• Provide railcar repair and other railroad support services as needed.
• Inspect and repair railcars to regulatory guidelines and customer specs.
• Read and follow repair sheets and work scopes.
• Operate acetylene torches and welding equipment on steel and cast iron.
• Accurately complete repair and inventory documentation.
• Assist in unloading/loading railcars and tracking paperwork.
• Maintain track and rail yard safety and cleanliness.
• Support facility equipment maintenance and safety procedures.
