Job summary

FreightCar America, Inc. in Johnstown, PA is seeking a hands-on welder and warehouse associate to handle standard and non-standard railcar parts, ship and receive materials, and maintain inventory with minimal supervision.

The role requires 1G welding, blueprint reading, forklift and crane operation, and the ability to work from drawings and shop math. Prior railcar or manufacturing/warehouse experience is preferred in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise and welding smoke.

Qualifications

• Education, training and/or experience should include knowledge of blueprint reading, mathematics, and visualizing dimensions.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding functions (1G) to weld flat positions.
• Understand and handle the process of inventory control (shipping, receiving, etc).
• Operate crane and hoists.
• Interpret blueprints and manufacture parts in accordance with drawings (to skill level 1G).
• Package, stage, and finalize paperwork for completed orders.
• Interpret and understand shop mathematics.
• Operate forklifts.
• Operate various machines in the Richland facility as needed.
