Job summary

Road & Rail Services is seeking a Railcar Mechanic to apply welding, fabrication, and mechanical repair skills to keep railroad equipment in peak condition. No prior rail experience is required; candidates with industrial maintenance, heavy equipment repair, diesel mechanics, or metal fabrication backgrounds are welcome.

Ideal applicants are safety‑minded, hands‑on, and reliable, able to work independently or in a crew.

Qualifications

• We are seeking applicants with strong mechanical abilities and practical trades experience.
• Relevant background includes welding, fabrication, and mechanical troubleshooting.
• Experience with industrial maintenance or heavy equipment repair is a plus.
• Railcar repair experience is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate railcars for structural damage, wear, and defects.
• Perform authorized repairs following customer specs and industry standards.
• Complete stick welding and metal fabrication to repair or restore equipment.
• Operate torches, grinders, and other metalworking tools safely.
• Remove, adjust, repair, and replace damaged components.
• Document inspections and repairs and maintain clean work areas.
