SHUR-CO LLC is seeking a Railcar Technician Lead to join a field team in Eddyville, IA. The role involves leading technicians to install and repair cover systems on customer railcars, often outdoors in all weather.
Expect use of welding, grinding, riveting, and heavy equipment while adhering to PPE and fall protection requirements. The Lead position requires performing tasks on elevated platforms, coordinating with the Rail Service Manager, and traveling to customer locations as needed.

This person will work with our team of railcar technicians to install and repair Shur-Co cover systems on customer railcars. The majority of this work will be performed outside, summer and winter, in varying and sometimes extreme weather conditions. Job functions include installation and removal of large components, welding, grinding, hammering, riveting and similar operations. Work is typically done on elevated platforms, wearing PPE and fall protection. Five to ten hours per week of overtime is typical. Weekend work is typically not required. Travel to remote customer locations is occasionally required.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical assemblies; fumes or airborne particles, loud noises, winter and summer extreme temperatures and conditions, working at heights with fall protection, welding fumes and UV radiation, exposed sharp metal edges, and other potentially dangerous outdoor service conditions.
This work requires use of full PPE including safety glasses, hard hat, hearing protection, steel toe boots, cut resistant gloves, and FR clothing. With proper training and PPE, the employee may perform work in confined spaces.
