Job summary

TTX is seeking a Railcar Repairman (Carman) to repair, modify, and upgrade rail cars in a hands-on role. You will rebuild components, weld and fabricate, and perform mechanical labor while following blueprints and specifications.

The job requires using hand and power tools, inspecting equipment, and operating a forklift. You will work with various tools and adhere to safety rules and customer standards in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Repairs, modifies, and upgrades rail cars.
• Rebuilds car components: bolsters, side framers, hitch heads, and box car doors.
• Welds (up to 30% of time), fabricates, and uses a cutting torch.
• Performs mechanical labor (approx. 95% of time).
• Repairs and maintains railcars per blueprints and specs using hand and power tools and precision measuring instruments.
