Job summary

Guardian Rail in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a Repair Technician to inspect and repair railcars and tank cars. You will perform air arc, plasma cutting, and welding tasks per FRA/AAR specs in outdoor settings year-round, using diverse hand and power tools.

Ideal candidates have basic math skills, ability to read manuals and blueprints, and a safety-first mindset. Must be ready to work physically and as part of a team with adherence to quality standards.

Qualifications

• High-school diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience as Carman or Railcar Repair Technician desirable.
• Ability to read safety rules, manuals, and blueprints.
• Must be able to perform outdoor, physical, hands-on work.

Responsibilities

• Repair railcars and tank cars in compliance with FRA and AAR rules.
• Perform pre- and post-inspections of railcars.
• Operate hand and power tools; weld per AWS D15.1 standards.
• Maintain clean work area and follow safety procedures.
