Job summary

Harbor Rail Services in Oxnard, CA is seeking a Railcar Repairman to perform maintenance and inspection of freight cars. The role requires handling welding tools, fabrication equipment, and performing material handling in a busy shop environment.

Will work a flexible full-time schedule including weekends and overtime as needed. Valid driver license preferred; CDL is a plus. Excellent safety record and ability to work physically demanding shifts are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• English reading, writing and speaking fluently.
• Basic mathematical and analytical skills required.
• CDL is a plus.
• Familiarity with welding, fabrication and common shop tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform railcar repair and maintenance using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, air compressors, oxy-acetylene torches, grinders and fabrication equipment.
• Inspect rolling stock for defects and ensure compliance with industry standards and rules.
• Conduct pre-trip inspections and assist in loading/unloading and general shop duties.
• Follow safety rules, wear PPE, and document work performed on billing sheets.
