Job summary

The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad is seeking a Coach Maintenance - Laborer in Bryson City, NC. You will participate in repairing, restoring and rebuilding railroad rolling stock, and perform routine maintenance on generator railcars.

Ideal candidates will have experience with woodworking, metal fabrication, welding, plumbing, electrical, painting and HVAC, and must be able to lift 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and pass pre-employment screenings. Valid driver's license required.

Qualifications

• Willingness to learn and gain certifications.
• Woodworking, metal fabrication, welding, plumbing and electrical basics.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.
• Stand for up to 12 hours and lift 50 lbs.
• Valid driver license and DMV check.

Responsibilities

• Repair and restore railroad car rolling stock.
• Provide routine maintenance to generator railcars.
• Inspect equipment daily and identify repairs.
• Assist in HVAC installation and repair on railcars.
• Follow GSMR safety rules and cooperate with teams.
• Work in varied locations and weather.
