As a Railcar Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting, servicing, repairing, and maintaining diesel locomotives to ensure safe and efficient operation. You will diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, perform preventative maintenance, and work with a variety of tools and equipment in diverse working conditions.

Key Activities
  • Identify mechanical issues in diesel engines, air brakes, and running gear.
  • Use hand tools and power tools, to repair or replace defective parts.
  • Conduct routine inspections and servicing to ensure locomotives remain in optimal working condition.
  • Analyze and resolve both electrical and mechanical problems.
  • Follow all railroad safety and operating rules and regulations.
  • Perform duties in various conditions, including adverse weather and train yard environments.
Qualifications
  • Prior experience working with diesel locomotives or in a similar mechanical role.
  • Technical certification or vocational training in diesel mechanics or a related field.
  • Familiarity with diesel engines, air brakes, and locomotive components.
  • Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Capable of lifting heavy objects, working in confined spaces, and handling the physical demands of the job.
  • Committed to maintaining a safe work environment and following safety protocols.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members and supervisors.
  • Fluent in English (both verbal and written)
