Job summary

Trans-Global Solutions, Inc. seeks a material handler to pump liquids into and from tank cars, trucks, or barges. You will follow loading instructions, connect grounding cables, and monitor flow, ensuring safe, compliant unloading and sampling.

Responsibilities include inspecting equipment, recording measurements, and maintaining PPE and safety protocols on site. Prior experience with tank cars and a valid driver’s license is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to obtain TWIC card within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
  • PPE must be worn at all times on site.

Job description

Summary

Pumps liquid chemicals, liquid petroleum products, and other liquids into or from tank cars, trucks, or barges by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Verifies tank car numbers with loading instructions to ensure accurate placement of cars by crew.
  • Connects ground cable to carry off static electricity.
  • Inspects tank car exterior for leaks or damage.
  • Connects hoses and turns valve to offload product to pipeline.
  • Lowers gauge rod into tank or reads meter to verify specified volume of liquids.
  • Lowers sample bottle into tank for laboratory testing.
  • Copies seal information and attaches placard to tank cars.
  • Seals outlet valves on car.
  • Connects hose to outlet plugs on cars and attaches special fittings, when unloading cars.
  • Tests sample for basic sediment and water content and records reading.
  • Inspects tank car and replaces small defective parts, including pin cards and placards.
  • Monitors nitrogen or compressed air flow.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Personal Protective Equipment

Employee must wear required PPE at all times while on site, including H2S monitor, fire resistant clothing, steel toed boots, hard hat and safety glasses.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Current driver's license. Must be able to obtain a TWIC card within (90) days of hire.
