Job summary

Cypress Rail Solutions in Omaha, Nebraska is seeking a Final Inspector to ensure railcars and components meet all quality, regulatory, and customer requirements before release from the facility. As a Final Inspector, you will perform thorough inspections, document findings, support corrective actions, and collaborate with QA, repair technicians, welders, and management to resolve quality issues.

A high school diploma or GED is required; preferred candidates have 5+ years in railcar maintenance

• Ability to review and interpret drawings, instructions, standards, specifications, and repair documentation
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in inspections and documentation
• Ability to analyze information, make sound decisions, and drive results

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks in an industrial environment

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough inspections of railcars, components, and completed repairs to verify compliance with specifications and quality requirements
• Identify, document, and report conforming and nonconforming conditions, materials, and workmanship
• Review and interpret drawings, work instructions, specifications, repair procedures, and customer requirements
• Verify compliance with FRA, AAR, customer, and company requirements
• Maintain current knowledge of regulatory, industry, and customer standards affecting railcar repair operations
• Complete inspection reports, quality records, and required documentation accurately and timely
• Participate in investigations related to nonconforming products, noncompliance findings, and customer concerns
• Support root cause analysis efforts and assist in the development of corrective and preventive actions
• Communicate inspection findings and required corrective actions to production personnel and leadership
• Collaborate with quality assurance, repair technicians, welders, supervisors, and management to resolve quality issues
• Assist with audits, quality reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensure work areas remain safe, organized, and compliant with company policies and procedures
• Follow all safety rules, wear required PPE, and perform other duties as assigned
