Job summary

Siemens Mobility's Lexington, NC facility is seeking an electro-mechanical assembler to build electrical and mechanical subassemblies for passenger coaches, following wiring diagrams and blueprints with high precision.

You will measure, cut, route, twist, wrap, and terminate wires, disassemble and rework components when needed, and read parts lists to assemble from blueprints for roofs, panels, and piping assemblies, requiring fine motor skills and meticulous dexterity.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED and experience in manufacturing or similar environments.
• Background in electrical panel assembly, construction, automotive, or electrical service industries.
• Hands-on experience with electro-mechanical assembly.

Responsibilities

• Assemble units in passenger coaches: roofs, cable harnesses, mounted parts, electrical racks and panels, air supply racks, and piping assemblies.
• Connect wiring between components, terminals, connectors, and contact points with accuracy.
• Measure and cut wire to length; route, twist, wrap, tie, and attach wire to terminal points.
• Disassemble, modify, rework, refurbish, and reassemble components when required.
• Work from production blueprints, wiring diagrams, sketches, parts lists, and wire lists to build electrical or electro-mechanical subassemblies.

Location: Lexington, NC | Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 5:30am-4:00pm

Your day at a glance

You arrive on the production floor of Siemens Mobility's world-class passenger railcar facility and step into a build station dedicated to creating the electrical and mechanical subassemblies that power modern trains. You'll assemble cable harnesses, electrical racks, panels, mounted parts, and even contribute to roof sections, air supply racks, and piping assemblies for passenger coaches. With wiring diagrams and blueprints at hand, you'll route, cut, twist, wrap, tie, and terminate wires—meticulously connecting components, terminals, connectors, and contact points. When engineering changes occur, you'll disassemble, modify, rework, refurbish, and reassemble components as needed. Many tasks call on fine motor skills and excellent dexterity to handle small parts with precision.

What you bring

• High school diploma or state-recognized GED, or an equivalent mix of education and experience in manufacturing or a similar environment.
• Background in electrical panel assembly, construction, automotive, or electrical service industries.
• Hands-on experience with electro-mechanical assembly.
• Ability to communicate in English (written and verbal).
• Familiarity with reading blueprints, diagrams, and part lists is helpful.
• Proficiency with: Electrical schematics; Mechanical assembly skills.

Physical demands

• Frequent walking; reaching with hands and arms; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
• Ability to perform overhead work.
• Occasional lifting and moving up to 40 pounds.
• Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Compensation

The base hourly rate range for this position in Lexington, NC is $18.00- $22.14. The hourly rate may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
