Job summary

Stadler Rail AG is seeking a Railcar Maintenance Technician to diagnose and repair electrical components on railcars, ensuring fleet reliability and safety in an on‑site Salt Lake City setting. You will work with FRA‑compliant procedures and collaborate with mechanical teams to support fleet readiness.

The ideal candidate has an electrical background, experience with testing equipment, schematics, and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

Must have a high school diploma or GED and electrical trade training or apprenticeship.
Knowledge of electrical theory, safety practices, and troubleshooting techniques.
Experience reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and maintenance manuals.
Fluent in English (verbal & written).

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair railcar electrical components in accordance with FRA regulations and company procedures.
Diagnose faults using multimeters, diagnostic software, schematics, wiring diagrams, and testing equipment.
Inspect and maintain low‑voltage electrical systems including lighting, batteries, charging, wiring, relays, sensors, and HVAC controls.
Perform corrective maintenance to restore equipment functionality and support reliability.
Assist preventive maintenance programs to improve electrical system reliability.
Read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams; interpret technical manuals.
Support troubleshooting of electromechanical systems and interfaces between electrical and mechanical equipment.
Document inspections, tests and repairs per FRA and company requirements.
Adhere to safety practices including LOTO and environmental guidelines.
Assist senior electricians during major overhauls and fleet improvement projects.
Maintain a clean, safe work environment and report safety hazards.
