Job summary

King County Metro in Seattle is seeking Rail Utility Service Workers to clean and maintain the interiors and exteriors of Link Light Rail vehicles, and to support shop and yard operations.

The role requires flexibility to work day, swing, or graveyard shifts, with a 40-hour week and overtime eligibility. You will follow safety rules, operate cleaning equipment, and report any defects as needed.

Qualifications

• One year of professional cleaning experience is required.
• Experience with and knowledge of basic janitorial techniques.
• Knowledge in the use and care of cleaning equipment such as pressure washers, steam cleaners, and scrubbers.
• Knowledge of basic safety rules, practices and principles and applicable OSHA laws.
• Knowledge in the proper use and disposal of cleaning chemicals.
• Basic knowledge of and skill using current computer software applications for data maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Clean interior and exterior of Light Rail Vehicles (LRV) or streetcars by handwashing and steam cleaning, using various cleaning chemicals.
• Report defects to supervisor, such as lights, body or interior damage, and operating defects.
• Remove trash and debris from LRVs or streetcars.
• Check and replenish consumables like sand and wiper fluid.
• Maintain shop facilities and vehicles following procedures.
• Clean and service shop equipment and vehicles.
• Make deliveries or pick up materials.
• Operate computer for related data input and retrieval.
• Perform related duties as required.
