Job summary

King County is seeking Rail Station Custodians to maintain cleanliness across Link Light Rail stations, elevators, escalators, park-and-ride facilities, and industrial sites. The role requires readiness for day, swing, or graveyard shifts and adherence to safety and equity standards.

Applicants must have at least one year of industrial cleaning experience, knowledge of janitorial techniques, safe chemical handling, and basic computer reporting.

Qualifications

• At least one year of direct professional industrial cleaning/janitorial experience within the past five years.
• Knowledge of basic janitorial techniques and cleaning equipment.
• Knowledge of basic safety rules and OSHA regulations.
• Knowledge and safe handling of cleaning chemicals and solutions.
• Ability to use computer software and fill out basic reports.
• Clear English reading and writing skills; effective spoken communication.

• Ability to perform multitasking and cooperate with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Secure areas for safe cleaning.
• Clean and provide litter and trash pick-up at stations, platforms, park and rides, and facilities.
• Load and unload small equipment, debris and trash.
• Mix and use cleaning chemicals and solutions.
• Empty trash and recycle bins.
• Operate vacuums, floor scrubbers, pressure washers, and related equipment.
• Clean, stock and sanitize restrooms and elevators.
• Use lifts to access high places; dust, wipe and wash surfaces.
• Request and stock supplies; manage glass and surface cleaning; remove graffiti.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with other trades; plan, schedule and supervise work.
• Perform snow and ice removal; operate company vehicles.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
