Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in New York, NY is seeking a Rail and Transit Engineering Intern to assist in planning, design, and production of drawings using AutoCAD, MicroStation, and OpenRoads.

You will collect field data, perform simple analyses, participate in field observations, and support project management across rail and transit projects, with mentorship from seasoned engineers.

Qualifications

  • Basic computer skills required to enter data into spreadsheets or databases.
  • Math skills to perform simple calculations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Job Description Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Rail and Transit Engineering Intern to join our New York, NY office.

Your Role
  • Assist in the planning, design, and production of engineering drawings using tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and OpenRoads for R&T and other Infrastructure projects as needed.
  • Perform data acquisition and analysis, including collection of field data, routine engineering calculations
  • Participate in field observations and construction-related activities, including documentation of progress, and quality-control data collection where appropriate.
  • Support general project management and operational workflows across the R&T business by coordinating cross-functional activities, tracking deliverables, compiling project documentation, and assisting with day‑to‑day business operations.
About You
EXPERIENCE:

No experience is generally required if accepted into an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program in a related technical field.

EDUCATION:

Must have completed 60 hours towards a related degree from an accredited college/university by the start of the internship (Summer 2027).

SPECIAL SKILLS:
  • Basic computer skills required to enter data into spreadsheets or databases.
  • Math skills to perform simple calculations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Additional Information

Expected compensation range is between $25 - $31 hourly depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
