Job summary

Pacific Rail Services is hiring an Entry-Level Union Rail Yard Operator at Norfolk Southern’s Rutherford Rail Terminal in Harrisburg, PA. This role offers full training and a starting salary of $20.50 per hour, with annual earnings potential of $55,000 to $70,000 including overtime.

Applicants must be 18 or older with a valid driver's license and live within 45 minutes of Harrisburg. Benefits include affordable healthcare, a 401K with company match, and paid time off.

Responsibilities

• Drive jockey trucks to move trailers, containers, and chassis around the railyard.
• Climb railcars and secure tracks for loading.
• Assist crane operators with hand signals.
• Stack and unstack chassis and load/unload chassis racks.
• Work as part of a team to keep the yard running smoothly.

What You’ll Earn

• Start at $20.50 per hour.
• Overtime pays $30.75 per hour.
• After one year: $22.44 per hour.
• Annual earning potential: $55,000 to $70,000 with overtime.

Your Schedule

• 8-hour shifts with a mandatory 4-hour holdover when necessary (up to 12 hours total).
• Current shift start times: 10 AM or 10 PM.
• Weekends and holidays required.
• The Railroad operates 24/7/365.

What You’ll Do

• Drive jockey trucks to move trailers, containers, and chassis around the railyard.

• Assist crane operators with hand signals.
• Stack and unstack chassis, load and unload chassis racks.
