A leading rail services provider is hiring a Rail Terminal Diesel Mechanic at the Union Pacific Brooklyn Rail Terminal in Portland, OR. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of mechanical experience and be responsible for diagnosing and repairing lift equipment. Job description

Overview

Pacific Rail Services is hiring immediately for a Rail Terminal Diesel Mechanic to join our team in a recession proof industry at the Union Pacific Brooklyn Rail Terminal in Portland, OR. Previous mechanical experience is required.

Shift
  • Day Shift.
  • On call as needed

The hourly pay rate will be discussed during the interview process and is commensurate with experience. You can earn $65,000+ per year with overtime factored in, plus excellent company benefits.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the mechanical field and preventative maintenance minded.
  • Must have own tools (yearly tool allowance provided).
  • Experience and knowledge working with air, electrical, hydraulic and diesel systems and components.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

APPLICANTS MUST currently live within a 45-minute commute of Portland, OR. OUT OF AREA candidates and/or those requiring relocation will NOT be considered.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair lift equipment, repair forklifts, company vehicles, and hostler fleet.
  • Be proficient with maintenance, diagnosis and repairs of lift equipment and diesel tractor maintenance.
  • Adhere to company, railroad and industry safety rules and policies.
  • Recognize and identify non-diesel-specific related repair or maintenance items such as safety appliances, tires, etc.
  • Perform scheduled Preventative Maintenance, including identifying and repairing damaged or worn components.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electric, diesel and hydraulic components on lift equipment and diesel tractors.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and productive workplace at all times.
  • Document all work performed to maintain vehicle and equipment record integrity.
  • Maintain a positive and learning teamwork atmosphere by acting and communicating in a professional, courteous and helpful manner.
  • Assist in other areas as needed by managers.

Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 with verifiable mechanical experience.
  • Candidates must undergo a background check.
  • Must be able to pass a physical strength test.
  • Drug screening; marijuana is strictly prohibited due to operation of heavy machinery.
  • Must be able to provide your own tools.
