Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate saw systems to cut aluminum, stainless steel, or composites to length and angle.
• Use bending equipment to form parts to radii and configurations, checking tolerances.
• Perform deburring, drilling, surface finishing, and labeling for assembly or inventory.
• Assemble subassemblies following drawings or build fixtures.
• Ensure subassemblies meet spec and are inspected for fit and finish.
• Read job orders and prints to ensure material selection is correct.
• Support continuous improvement for quality and efficiency.
• Maintain build documentation across multiple builds.

Job Title:

Rail Subassembly & Component Fabrication Technician

Reports To:

Summary:

The Subassembly & Component Fabrication Technician is responsible for preparing and assembling marine components using saw systems, tube and bar benders, and part preparation tools. This position plays a key role in supporting production by fabricating high-quality parts that meet design specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate has experience with fabrication equipment, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Operate saw systems (manual and automated) to cut aluminum, stainless steel, or composite materials to specified lengths and angles.
• Use tube and bar bending equipment to form parts to required radii and configurations, verifying tolerances with jigs or measuring tools.
• Perform part preparation tasks including deburring, hole drilling, surface finishing, and labeling or tagging for assembly or inventory.
• Assemble prefabricated parts into mechanical subassemblies following drawings, work instructions, or build fixtures.
• Ensure each subassembly is built to specification and inspected for fit, finish, and function before release to downstream departments.
• Communicate with quality and assembly teams to resolve part issues or inconsistencies.
• Read and interpret job orders, engineering prints, and cut lists to ensure accurate fabrication and correct material selection.
• Support continuous improvement efforts related to quality, efficiency, and workflow.
• Maintain build documentation accuracy and consistency across multiple builds.
• Perform routine maintenance on shop equipment and keep a clean, organized work area in accordance with 5S standards.
• Follow all workplace safety practices and PPE requirements.
• Safely handle sharp or heavy materials to minimize risks.
