Job summary

Union Pacific Railroad is seeking an Assistant Signal Worker to support installation, repair, and upkeep of railroad signals and grade crossing systems. You will work with a range of equipment to help ensure safe, efficient transportation across North America.

The role emphasizes inspecting, assembling, and maintaining signaling devices, following FRA guidelines and safety rules, and collaborating with teams while traveling within the designated territory.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and basic computer skills.
• Ability to supervise others and to plan, organize, and maintain information.
• Commitment to safety rules and safe work habits; understand risks.
• Strong math, measurement, and data extraction from tables and charts.
• Willingness to travel and work in varied environments; read and interpret texts.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections and testing of signal circuitry, equipment, and systems to identify defects.
• Assemble, troubleshoot, and repair signal crossing equipment as needed.
• Construct and maintain signal communication circuitry and components.
• Operate and travel using company vehicles across territory; maintain clean work areas.
• Adhere to safety, FRA regulations, and company guidelines; perform additional duties as assigned.
