Job summary

Union Pacific Railroad is seeking a Signal System Technician to ensure safe and efficient railroad operations. You will test signal systems per FRA and UP requirements and lead installation, repair, and maintenance of crossing signals and warning devices.

The role requires valid driver's license, strong communication, safety focus, and ability to work both independently and with a team. A probationary period includes UP certification and FMCSA medical qualifications.

Qualifications

• Valid driver license and clean MVR.
• Ability to interpret and record non-technical and technical information.
• Proficiency with both print and digital information and basic computer skills.
• Strong English communication and safety discipline.
• Must complete an English assessment prior to interviews.

Responsibilities

• Perform signal system inspections and tests per FRA and UP requirements.
• Install, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain signal and grade crossing equipment.
• Lead excavation work for installation tasks and maintain safety standards.
• Coordinate with team, document testing, and track tasks efficiently.
• Adhere to railroad rules and FRA regulations.
