Job summary

Union Pacific Railroad is seeking an Assistant Signal Worker to assist with installation, repair, and maintenance of railroad signals and grade crossing warning systems across North America. Join a team powering safe, efficient transportation and gain exposure to a variety of equipment in a role within Engineering.

Responsibilities include inspecting signal circuitry, assembling equipment, and performing repairs while adhering to FRA regulations.

Qualifications

• Must have valid driver’s license.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Ability to supervise others.
• Strong planning and organizational abilities.
• Commitment to safety rules and safe work habits.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations.
• Able to extract information from tables, charts, and text.
• Knowledge of basic mechanical principles.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Candidates must complete an English assessment prior to interview.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and test signal circuitry, equipment, and systems to identify issues.
• Assemble/disassemble signal crossing equipment and perform repairs as needed.
• Construct, install, maintain, repair, and replace signal communication systems.
• Use various tools and equipment while keeping work areas clean.
• Operate company vehicles and travel across the territory.
• Demonstrate initiative and ownership to ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Foster positive relationships with colleagues, supervisors, contractors, and customers.
• Adhere to safety, operational, and FRA regulations and guidelines.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
