Job summary

Genesee & Wyoming is seeking a Signal Maintainer to ensure traffic-light style signal systems for safe train movement. You will inspect, test, and maintain signaling equipment, and work in a 24/7 environment to support reliable rail operations.

The role requires technical skill, attention to detail, and the ability to operate independently while adhering to safety and regulatory standards. On-site responsibilities include outdoor work, climbing, and equipment maintenance across assigned

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or an equivalent combination of high school diploma / GED and experience.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• CDL is a plus or able to obtain one if required.
• At least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Comply with federal, state, and rail safety/operational regulations.
• Inspect and test signal circuitry with standard testing equipment.
• Inspect, test, and maintain batteries and signal equipment for proper operation.
• Compile reports of inspections, tests, and repairs; replace equipment when needed.
• Operate vehicles to install, inspect, and maintain grade-crossing warning systems.
