Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) seeks a Contractor in Charge (CIC) in Reno, NV to oversee safety-focused work within railroad rights-of-way for freight railroads, transit systems, and state DOTs.

The CIC will manage construction, maintenance and safety compliance, conduct job briefings, monitor track conditions, coordinate with dispatchers, and ensure all FRA and company policies are followed. This role requires travel and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Requires 2 years' experience in a railroad company, preferably in maintenance of way or TY&E.
• Willingness to travel long-term, including multi-month deployments.
• Must complete all required federal, client, and company training.

Responsibilities

• Oversee worksites for safety and provide flagging as needed.
• Ensure compliance with FRA regulations (49 CFR 214) during track operations.
• Monitor track conditions and coordinate train movements with dispatchers.
• Document daily activities and incidents for management and regulators.
• Enforce railroad, state, and federal policies.
