Job summary

Lochmueller Group is seeking an experienced Rail Project Manager to lead rail and rail-adjacent infrastructure projects for public agencies, Class I and industrial clients. Based in multiple locations including Dallas–Fort Worth, this role emphasizes collaboration and delivering quality transportation solutions.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in rail engineering or transportation project management, a Civil Engineering degree, strong leadership and communication skills, and familiarity with

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
  • 10+ years in rail engineering or transportation-related project management.
  • Experience managing complex rail projects for owners, public agencies, or industrial clients.
  • Familiarity with rail design principles, construction practices and regulations (FRA, AREMA).
  • PE license is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with CSX, Norfolk Southern or Union Pacific is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Project Manager for rail-focused projects from initiation through delivery.
  • Manage scope, budgets, schedules, and resources to meet outcomes.
  • Coordinate with clients to understand goals and expectations.
  • Lead project teams and delegate tasks to staff.
  • Provide technical oversight on rail design, analysis, and construction.
  • Lead project planning, design, and implementation.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support staff development.
  • Prepare and review project scopes, fee proposals, schedules, and work plans.
  • Review project documents to ensure quality and regulatory compliance.
