Job summary

The NC Department of Transportation seeks an Engineer II (NS) to apply intermediate engineering and planning techniques in Traffic Separation Studies, Crossing Consolidation, and STI/STIP processes, along the SEC and other railroad lines in North Carolina. You will assist in grants and studies and represent rail in highway scoping to advise on projects impacting rail lines.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering with at least three years of experience; professional engineer

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering and three years of progressively responsible experience; or an equivalent combination.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer may be required.
• Knowledge of civil engineering principles related to highway design and project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Apply intermediate engineering techniques to traffic/separation studies and crossing projects.
• Review plans, prepare letters and reports, and assist in procurement of grants and studies.
• Represent the rail mode in highway scoping and coordinate with project teams.
