Job summary

BNSF Railway in Brookfield, MO seeks a Conductor Trainee to support safe, efficient freight movement. This full-time role requires readiness for 24/7 on-call, night and weekend work, with on-the-job and classroom training and travel to training centers.

You will learn to read signals, operate switches, inspect equipment, and collaborate across teams while complying with federal regulations and PPE requirements.

Qualifications

• Able to work now and in the future without sponsorship.
• At least 18 years of age by start date.
• Ability to report for duty at the designated location.
• Able to work safely in the stated conditions and shift hours.
• Able to travel as required.
• Ability to read, write and communicate English.
• Able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
• Ability to learn hand signals and judge speed/distance.

Responsibilities

• Obtain, receive, and act on information via oral and written channels; monitor and report daily work.
• Operate track switches and derails to route trains and ensure proper alignment.
• Inspect trains and equipment per federal regulations and report conditions.
• Work in a safety-sensitive environment under extreme weather and around heavy machinery.
• Adhere to safety policies, wear PPE, and participate in safety conversations.
