King County Metro Transit's Rail Division is seeking a Rail Operations Support System Coordinator to help plan, develop, and maintain essential systems that support daily operations and payroll data accuracy.

The role emphasizes improving automated systems, responding to service needs, and coordinating with Rail Supervisors and Operators. It requires completion of probation and flexibility for on-call duties.

Qualifications

  • Current eligible King County Metro Transit Employees in a position represented by ATU 587.
  • Must have completed probation period.
  • Experience with payroll and Rail operations systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct Rail Operator picks utilizing automated computer systems and applications.
  • Validate payroll transfer between automated systems each pay period; coordinate base assignments for system board operators; update associated records and data in automated systems.
  • Manage Rail Supervisor assignment picks and bi-weekly assignments for Rail Supervisors that include relief picks.
  • Develop methods to improve automated systems, applications, and functionality to better support transit operations; test system customizations, upgrades, and new releases; test and support peripherals, systems, and applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve user-encountered system problems and breakdowns; coordinate with technical staff as required.

King County Metro Transit's Rail Division Operations Support team has an exciting opportunity for current eligible King County Metro Transit Employees in a position represented by ATU 587 who are interested in a career service position as a Rail Operations Support System Coordinator (Transit Operations Support System Coordinator). All applicants must complete any King County probation period.

The selected candidate will help with the planning, developing, and maintaining essential systems and administrative procedures to support daily operations and the accuracy of data in accordance with the ATU Local 587 Labor Agreement. The most competitive candidate has demonstrated the ability to maintain high-performance levels for service-related processes, implementing improvement activities where necessary, and is proficient in utilizing HASTUS to monitor and manage payroll and support functions to ensure optimal service.

About Link Light Rail

King County Metro Transit's Rail Division manages and maintains Sound Transit's Link light rail service. Link Light Rail is a 2-line operation of 55+ miles between Lynnwood, Federal Way, and Downtown Redmond. Additional expansions to the Link system will be coming online for years to come.

Who May Apply

This position is open to current Career Service King County Employees in a position represented by ATU 587 that have successfully passed their probationary period. First preference will be given to any candidate currently in the following King County Metro classifications: Bus Supervisor, Rail Supervisor, O&M Supervisor with previous Rail Supervisor experience, Senior Schedule Planner, or Transit Operations Support System Coordinator (OSS Coordinator).

Position Information

This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) Career Service position and may be used to create the eligibility list for future vacancies valid for 12 months.

Work Schedule

This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not overtime eligible. The workweek is normally 40 hours, Monday through Friday. Typical work hours are between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Extended and/or flex scheduled work hours may be required to respond to service needs. This position performs on-call duties which will require occasional evening, night, and/or weekend work.

Work Location

Employees may report to any of the following locations: Rail Operations and Maintenance Facility Central (OMFC) at 3407 Airport Way S, Seattle WA 98134, Rail Operations and Maintenance Facility East (OMFE) at 1925 120th Ave NE Bellevue WA 98005, and/or any other locations based on business needs.
