Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must have 5+ years experience as a Locomotive Engineer.
• Must have no decertifications in the last 3 years.
• Must have excellent knowledge of 49-CFR-240 certification.
• Must have thorough knowledge of operating rules and union contracts.
• Must have thorough knowledge of locomotive electrical, mechanical and air brake systems.
• Must have strong verbal and written communication and organization skills.
• Must have an Operating Rules Certification.
• Must have a Locomotive Engineering License or Conductor Certification.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Supervise district staff, train and engine crews, and clerks.
• Manage daily operations to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with federal regulations, operating and safety rules, and customer service standards.
• Coordinate and modify crew and equipment assignments to respond to service needs.
• Collaborate with Pace, CTA, and other bus companies for vehicle support.
• Approve time off and manage staff schedules; ensure policy compliance.
• Lead staffing decisions, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
• Oversee safety program objectives and regulatory compliance.
