Job summary

White Pass & Yukon Route seeks an Operations Manager to supervise all railroad operations across Mechanical, Transportation and Maintenance of Way. The role reports to the Superintendent of Rail Operations and will oversee engineering and construction projects across the rail system.

The position is on-site in Skagway, requires intense hours with seven-day on-call during the operating season (March 1 to October 31). Compensation is based on experience and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent engineering/construction experience.
• Strong knowledge of railroad engineering principles.
• Clear and effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Develops project schedules, deadlines, quotes and budgets.
• Prepares reports, approves timesheets and expenses.
• Coordinates work and schedules of contractors and company forces safely and efficiently.
• Coordinates meetings with contractors and internal departments.
• Relieves and supports other Operating Department managers as required.
• Monitors and enforces safety policy compliance.
