Job summary

Akima Facilities Operations (AFO) seeks a Railway Engineer to oversee daily rail service operations at Fort Sill, ensuring safety, efficiency, and contract compliance. You will manage train movements, dispatching, and crew coordination while adhering to FRA, GCOR, and industry standards.

The role requires an active railway license, ability to pass drug/background checks, and readiness to work nights, weekends, and holidays at Fort Sill and other remote sites.

Qualifications

• Active Railway/Railroad Engineer license, current and valid.
• Must be able to complete online Container Inspection for Commercial and Military Intermodal Containers, MIL HDBK 138A.
• Must be able to obtain Forklift license for all equipment (4K to 50K).
• Ability to pass Pre-Employment Drug Test and Background Screening.
• REAL ID-compliant, state-issued driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily rail service operations, including scheduling, dispatching, routing, and train movements.
• Ensure train operates within safety rules, managing speed restrictions and emergency procedures per GCOR/ABTH.
• Conduct weekly safety meetings with staff to ensure Safety Program compliance.
• Coordinate resources: personnel, equipment, and budgets to deliver services per contract.
• Supervise inspection, repair, and upkeep of rail systems, locomotives, rolling stock.
• Track operational metrics, analyze data, and report on efficiency and service quality.
• Coordinate with internal teams, other providers, and clients to resolve issues and optimize service.
• Address passenger and freight customer concerns promptly and effectively.
• Deliver services in line with contractual obligations, including timelines and quality standards.
• Occasionally work uncommon tours including nights, weekends, and holidays at Fort Sill, OK and other remote sites.
• Other duties as assigned.
