Job summary

RSI Logistics, recently acquired by Trinity Industries, Inc., seeks a Rail Network Supervisor to oversee a team of railcar coordinators and ensure proactive monitoring from origin to destination. You will identify exceptions, escalate variances, and keep partners informed of changes.

Key responsibilities include supervising staff, generating performance reports, troubleshooting rail issues, and coordinating with railroads to maintain on-time movement and compliant bill of lading practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Transportation, Logistics or equivalent.
• 5+ years in Rail Logistics with 3+ years managing employees.
• Proficient in technical writing and clear communication.
• System savvy; ERP or Rail TMS experience preferred.
• Able to lead a team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and train the railcar coordinators team.
• Monitor workload and ensure daily tasks are completed.
• Escalate issues to stakeholders as needed.
• Provide reporting and metrics on service levels and improvements.
• Understand railcar operations to address client issues to resolution.
• Use cloud-based tracking to monitor railcars and update stakeholders.
• Communicate with railroads to troubleshoot and log issues.
• Ensure railcars move along correct routes and destinations on time.

RSI Logistics,recently acquired byTrinity Industries Inc.,is looking for aRail Network Supervisor. The Rail Network Supervisor’s primary objective is to provide the oversight of the team that handles proactively monitoring loaded and empty railcars from the point of release at the origin to final placement at destination, as well as the storage of railcars. This role is responsible to ensure exceptions are identified, escalated and handled, while informing business partners of any variations to planned trip.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and train the team of railcar coordinators
• Monitor workload and ensure daily tasks are being accomplished
• Escalate issues to stakeholders as appropriate
• Prepare and provide reporting and metrics that demonstrate service levels and areas to improve
• Understand railcar operations in order to identify potential issues. Take charge of client service issues through to resolution
• Utilize a cloud-based railcar tracking system to monitor, identify problems, and provide updates to stakeholders
• Communicate with railroads to troubleshoot issues and delayed railcars. This would involve phone and email communication as logging issues on railroad websites
• Ensure railcars are travelling along the correct route and going to the correct destination, and on time
• Understand bill of lading, waybilling, clms, the North American railroad network, and railroad terminology
• Exude a Goal-driven and continuous improvement mindset
• Communicate and present information to internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree specializing in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Transportation, Logistics or equivalent work experience
• 5 or more years of experience required in Rail Logistics (rail management/marketing, or rail procurement) with at least 3 years managing employees
• Proficient in technical writing, good communication skills- attention to detail is critical
• System savvy (prior ERP experience or Rail TMS experience is highly preferred)
• Ability to work in a fast paced/dynamic environment and lead a team to accomplish goals
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
