Job summary

Client Corporation seeks an innovative and analytical Operations Research Scientist to develop advanced optimization, machine learning, and decision-support solutions that improve network performance, increase operational efficiency, enhance service reliability, and reduce costs.

This role leverages cutting-edge operations research methodologies, reinforcement learning, artificial intelligence, and mathematical optimization to solve complex transportation and logistics challenges.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. degree in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or related quantitative disciplines.
• 3-5 years of experience developing and deploying decision-support systems using OR methodologies.
• 3-5 years of experience designing optimization models for large-scale planning and real-time decision-making.
• 3-5 years applying ML, RL, and network optimization to autonomous decision-making.
• Experience with nonlinear optimization and AI-enhanced models that improve quality, robustness, and scalability.
• 3-5 years following software development best practices for production applications.

Responsibilities

• Develop real-time, tactical, and strategic network disruption management and recovery models for railroad operations.
• Provide production support, maintenance, and enhancements for existing OR applications.
• Design, develop, and implement optimization, simulation, and ML models using Python, Java, or C++.
• Evaluate data sources for quality and gaps and address issues.
• Collaborate with business partners to identify opportunities for optimization.
• Work with dev teams to integrate models into production environments.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor team members.
