Job summary

Techaxis, Inc. is seeking an enthusiastic Embedded C Software Developer for a 6‑ to 12‑month contract.

The role focuses on on‑board signaling and train control systems, with hands-on design, implementation, and debugging in a real-time environment. The ideal candidate has 5–8 years of software development experience, expert C skills for embedded scenarios, and a strong grasp of safety-critical engineering practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering.
  • 5–8 years of software development experience.
  • Expert-level proficiency in C for embedded, real-time environments.
  • Strong understanding of real-time concepts including scheduling, interrupts, concurrency, memory constraints, and hardware interactions.
  • Experience writing software requirements and in a structured, audited development process.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain embedded C software for on-board signaling and train control systems.
  • Develop software for safety-related functions such as automatic train protection, communications handling, timing synchronization, diagnostics, and fault management.
  • Interface closely with on-board hardware, including processors, I/O modules, communication buses, and safety peripherals.
  • Ensure deterministic execution, robust error handling, and compliance with real-time constraints.
  • Develop software according to safety lifecycle requirements and contribute to safety documentation.
