Job summary

Metra Commuter Rail in Chicago is seeking a Journeyman Electrician to maintain electrical equipment on diesel and electric locomotives, self-propelled coaches and passenger railcars, including propulsion systems, electronic controls, lighting, generators, battery charging, CAB signal systems, HVAC, and wiring.

The role focuses on safety, regulatory compliance, and safe work practices; candidates must read schematics and be available for all shifts at multiple sites across the six-county metro

Qualifications

• Journeyman Electrician or 4+ years of experience on similar equipment.
• Ability to read schematic drawings.
• Available to work all shifts and at various locations in the six-county metro Chicago area.

Responsibilities

• Maintain electrical equipment on diesel/electric locomotives, self-propelled coaches and passenger railcars including propulsion systems, electronic controls, lighting, generators, battery charging systems, CAB signal systems, heating and air conditioning systems, and industrial wiring.
• Responsible for safety objectives and compliance with safety rules; promote safe work practices and maintain a safe work environment.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
