Job summary

Amtrak in Groton, CT is seeking an Electrician/Maintenance Technician to install, maintain, and repair electrical equipment and wiring across railroad assets including bridges, feeders, circuit breakers, lighting, and signage. The role requires safety-focused performance and the ability to interpret electrical theory.

The candidate should have a High School Diploma or GED, English proficiency, a valid driver’s license, and the physical ability to lift 50 lb.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must read, write, and speak the English language clearly.
• Must have a current valid driver's license.
• Must be able to lift 50lb or more.
• Experience in railroad equipment maintenance preferred.
• Completion of technical school or apprenticeship program recommended.
• Experience as an electrician or lineman with knowledge of tools, rigging, electricity and safety procedures.
• Formal electrical training.
• Master Electrician license or ability to obtain within 180 days.

Responsibilities

• Must pass examinations in initial RWP and AMT-2 Classes.
• Must demonstrate knowledge of maintaining electrical assets.
• Must have prior satisfactory attendance, performance, and safety record.
• Troubleshooting electrical problems and what is required to make repairs.
• Other duties as assigned.
