Job summary

MTA is seeking a Maintenance of Equipment Electrician Trainee to troubleshoot and service electrical systems across multiple locations. The role involves inspecting, maintaining, repairing and installing electrical components on rolling stock and related equipment.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and at least four years of electrical experience, plus the ability to troubleshoot and read wiring diagrams. HVAC responsibilities are included.

Qualifications

• Must possess a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent (GED or TASC) approved by a State's Department of Education or recognized accredited organization.
• Must possess a minimum of four years electrical experience.
• Must possess the ability to trouble‑shoot equipment.
• Must possess mechanical ability and ability to use various electrical meters and testing devices.
• Must possess ability to read wiring schematic diagrams.
• Must possess knowledge of relay logic.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, repair and install electrical components at shops, buildings and yards; work on rolling stock equipment and related shop or plant equipment.
• Move cars within Maintenance territory and learn/troubleshoot defects using the Automatic Train Control System.
• Maintain HVAC systems, including freon handling.
