Job summary

Enrollment in an engineering program and coursework in surveying, CAD, and related tools are beneficial. Travel for in-state/out-of-state field visits may be required occasionally.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a technical school or university program and at least one year completed in a bachelor’s degree track.
• Civil engineering majors preferred.
• Strong foundation in math and engineering basics.

Responsibilities

• On-the-job training for a variety of engineering activities.
• Operating in a learning capacity and gaining knowledge of general processes.
• Basic drafting skills and techniques.
• Work with engineer or higher level technician on full plan development.
• Perform routine tasks to gain exposure to engineering staff, methods, and programs.
• Learn on the job about survey activities and GPS/conventional survey equipment.
• Observe construction processes and field tests, including materials testing.
• Collaborate with Landscape Architects, Engineers, Field Surveyors, and Design Technicians and external staff.
• Work on assignments across project phases, including in-office design and field visits.
• Compile data and perform basic engineering design calculations.
