Job summary

Metra in Chicago seeks an A.C. Electrician to perform electrical work on fixed assets across buildings, stations, bridges, and yards.

You will install, repair, and maintain HVAC systems, medium voltage switchgear, and related equipment, with after-hours on-call and overtime as needed. Requirements include a bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent as well as journeyman Electrician status or four years' experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
• Journeyman Electrician or 4+ years of equivalent experience.
• Able to climb ladders and work in aerial positions from a line belt and bucket truck.
• Able to lift up to 150 lbs with assistance.
• CDL Class B with air brakes endorsement (permit in 14 days, CDL in 60 days).
• Must pass Metra M.O.W. Rules within 60 days and Roadway Worker Rules within 30 days.
• Available for a 40-hour week, on-call 24/7, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical work on fixed assets across buildings, stations, bridges, tracks, and yards.
• Install and repair HVAC systems and related controls.
• Work with 12kV AC distribution and switchgear and associated equipment.
• Process paperwork and replenish inventory and materials.
• Be available for emergency after-hours call outs and overtime.
