Summary

Performs radiological procedures at technical level that requires direct supervision. Must be considered a second level student by clinical supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Prep patient for procedure: identify patient using two identifiers and two sources; document pregnancy; identify clinical indications; maintain accurate patient records.
• Produce diagnostic quality exams according to departmental and college competencies: set technical factors; position patient; complete exams efficiently and accurately; maintain competency in surgical imaging under sterile conditions; perform portable exams in ER and floor units; recognize knowledge limitations and avoid repeats.
• Maintain safety, including radiation safety: shield patient; minimize repeats; comply with ALARA; adhere to NPSG policies; prepare for emergencies; report incidents promptly; observe infection control practices.
• Assist radiologist in fluoroscopic procedures: set up room and supplies.
• Maintain competency through education: participate in in‑service classes; maintain “in good standing” status; stay updated on departmental meetings and policy changes.
• Identify and address needs of different patient age groups (pediatric, adolescent, geriatric) and communicate technical limitations promptly.
