Job summary

Bon Secours in Culpeper, VA is hiring an X-Ray Technician to perform provider-ordered radiographic studies and document findings in the EMR. You will ensure patient safety, proper positioning, and radiation protection while supporting daily operations.

The role requires ARRT certification (or registered) and state licensure preferred, with BLS required. Experience with EPIC EHR, PACS, and RIS is preferred; travel to other facilities may be required.

Qualifications

• ARRT certification/registration is required.
• State licensure preferred, depending on the state.
• BLS by American Heart Association is required or must be obtained before direct patient care.
• AS degree in Radiologic Technology (preferred).
• 1 year experience in radiation safety and patient care (preferred).
• Experience with Radiology Information System (RIS) preferred.
• EPIC EHR (preferred) and PACS (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Safely perform provider-ordered radiographic exams with proper patient positioning and protection.
• Set up and adjust immobilization equipment; position patients safely.
• Document patient encounters in the EMR.
• Select appropriate technical factors to safeguard patient and equipment.
• Travel to other facilities and adjust hours as needed by the manager.
• Maintain sterile technique to prevent cross‑contamination.
• Report equipment malfunctions to supervisor and assist with other duties as needed.

Job description

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The X-Ray Technician performs digital X-ray studies on patients per the orders placed by providers. The X-Ray Technician is a multi-skilled clinical professional who works within the scope of practice to assist in patient care under the direction of the provider.

Essential Job Functions

• Safely performs provider ordered radiographic examinations, including but not limited to proper patient positioning, immobilization, and utilizing appropriate radiation protection.
• Sets up and adjusts supportive and immobilization equipment and devices as required by individual cases. Positions and handles patients with a high degree of safety and professionalism
• Accurately documents patient encounters within Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
• Determines and selects proper electronic and technical factors which safeguard the patient, x-ray tube, and equipment
• Maintains clinical and administrative skills to meet patient care and daily operational needs. Collect patient specimens and runs point of care lab tests. Travel to other facilities for BSMH providers or adjusting work hours to meet patient care needs as directed by the manager may also be required.
• Directs and practices sterile technique to prevent cross-contamination of disease
• Reports immediately any malfunction, necessary adjustments or repairs of equipment to supervisor
• Other duties include but not limited to ordering supplies, lab and diagnostic tests, disposes of contaminated supplies, patient registration, scheduling, phone triage, cash handling, check-in/check-out and performing scribing duties as needed basis.

Licensing/ Certification

Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) (required)

State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed)

BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care) (required)

Education

Associate's from an ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) accredited institute (preferred)

Experience

1 year experience in radiation safety and patient care (preferred)

Experience with Radiology Information System (preferred)

Training

EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred)

Picture archiving communication system (PACS) (preferred)

Range:

• Minimum: $ 26.82
• Maximum: $ 41.57
