Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to join our team. Under general supervision, you will greet patients and perform required medical testing, including vital signs, and assist with other radiology procedures as ordered.

You will perform X-rays under physician guidance, help prepare charts, update patient information, and answer medical questions from the care team. This full-time AM role offers weekday hours, and a chance to contribute to a leading academic

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology.
• ARRT registered or registry eligible for ARRT certification in radiography.
• At least 1 year of experience in a customer service or similar role with strong public interaction.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and perform required medical testing (e.g., vital signs, labs) per physician or protocol.
• Perform X-rays under physician orders and radiology standards.
• Prepare and collect charge tickets, update patient charts and information.
• Answer and document patient questions regarding medical tests and results with attending physician.

Job Description

Under general supervision and according to UAHSF established policies and procedures, provides a variety of specialized services that require interaction with patients, visitors and other members of the patient care team. Greets patients and performs required medical testing (i.e. vital signs, lab work, etc) as designated by either physician or pre-designated protocol. Perform X-rays as ordered by a physician under the guidelines of radiology technician standards. May prepare and collect charge tickets. May prepare, order and distribute patient charts and update patient information. Answer and document patient phone calls regarding medical questions, test results and medication while in constant contact with attending physician. Performs a variety of duties requiring use of independent judgment and decision making skills within well established parameters.

Qualifications

Required: Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology. ARRT registered or registry eligible for the ARRT certification in radiography. One year experience in a customer service or comparable capacity which demonstrates ability to interface appropriately and effectively with the public. Excellent grammar and articulation skills.

Preferred: Medical office experience in an occupational medicine or workman’s compensation setting would be preferred. Currently registered as a Registered Technologist (R.T.(ARRT)) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) OR registered within one (1) year from date of hire for a new graduate required.
