Mercy Health is seeking a Radiology Technologist at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital to perform diagnostic imaging under the supervision of an authorized user. The role emphasizes patient safety, radiation protection, and high-quality imaging results.

The position requires ARRT certification and state licensure where applicable, with 1 year experience in radiation safety and patient care preferred. EPIC EHR and PACS experience are assets in a collaborative hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree from an ARRT-accredited institute preferred
• ARRT certification/registration in Diagnostic Radiology is required; state licensure preferred where applicable
• 1 year experience in radiation safety and patient care preferred
• Experience with Radiology Information System (RIS) preferred
• Training in EPIC EHR and PACS is preferred

Responsabilités

• Obtains patient history and lab information for licensed use.
• Positions and immobilizes patients to demonstrate the area of interest.
• Applies radiation protection principles to minimize exposure.
• Performs radiographic procedures using imaging equipment and accessories.
• Verifies informed consent and completes pre/post procedure documentation.
• Assists licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized radiography; observes aseptic technique.
• Performs required timeouts per policy.

Job Summary

The Radiological Technologist is a certified health professional who, under the direction of an authorized user, is committed to applying the art and skill of diagnostic imaging through the safe and effective use of ionizing radiation, in diagnostic radiology.

Essential Functions

• Obtains patient’s clinical history and appropriate lab work ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner.
• Positions and immobilizes patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
• Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.
• Performs radiographic procedures by selecting and operating imaging equipment, and/or associated accessories to successfully perform procedures.
• Verifies informed consent and completes pre and post procedure documentation.
• Assists licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized radiography procedures. Applies appropriate aseptic surgical technique as needed.
• Performs timeout as required per policy.

Education

• Associate’s from an ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) accredited institute (preferred)

Required Licensing & Certifications

• Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) in Diagnostic Radiology (required) State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed)
• BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)

Experience

• 1 year experience in radiation safety and patient care (preferred)
• Experience with Radiology Information System (preferred)
