Job summary

Unity Hospital in Rochester is seeking a Radiology Technologist - Special Procedures Technologist to join the Cardiac/Cath Lab team. You will perform radiologic and special procedures, coordinate with radiologists and nurses, and ensure patient safety and comfort throughout exams.

This 40-hour/week role requires an NYS license in Radiologic Technology (or permit with licensure within six months), ARRT certification if licensed after 2007, a 2-year college certificate, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• 2 years college certificate or equivalent.
• NYS license in Radiologic Technology required or must hold NYS permit and obtain licensure within six months of hire.
• If licensed after 2007, must obtain the ARRT certification within 1 year of hire.
• BLS Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs as a radiologic technologist; prioritizes tasks and exams, confirms patient identification and examination, provides radiologist with pertinent information for interpretation, and correctly positions patients for standard views.
• Performs as a Special Procedures Technologist, including angiography and digital acquisitions, cardiac catheterizations, stents, and other interventional imaging.
• Utilizes ALARA principles to maintain safe radiation standards and assists with sterile technique.
• Supports physicians and RN in immediate post-operative care and patient positioning.

Job Title: Radiology Technologist - Special Procedures TechnologistDepartment: Cardiac/Cath LabLocation: Unity HospitalHours Per Week: 40hrsSchedule: Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m.-5:30 pm; 4 shifts per weekOn-call: Call is required - no more than 12 call shifts per monthSUMMARY:Performs as a Radiologic Technologist and a Special Procedures Technologist in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team within Interventional & Imaging Services.RESPONSIBILITIES:Performs as a radiologic technologist; prioritizes tasks and exams, confirms patient identification and examination, provides radiologist with pertinent information for interpretation, individualizes and provides effective explanations of exams to patients, correctly positions patients for standard examination views, performs special or additional views if required by adjusting routine for difficult or limited movement patients. Assesses film quality and determines the need for repeat. Discusses the exam with the radiologist. Works with all assigned X-ray equipment and accessories.Performs as a Special Procedures Technologist. Procedures include, but are not limited to: all angiography and digital acquisitions, cardiac catherizations, pacemaker insertions, IVC filters, stents, peripheral angioplasty, coronary angioplasty, insertion of dialysis catheters, PICCs, vertebroplasty, and uterine artery embolizations.Utilizes the ALARA principle to maintain safe radiation standards.Assists physicians in procedures requiring sterile technique.Assists the physician/RN in immediate post-operative care of the patient.
