A Radiology Technologist will assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients through producing diagnostic radiographs of the human body using independent judgment to determine the quality of radiographs and compliance with established protocols. This position will work at the West Chester Hospital in the Diagnostic Imaging department.

Qualifications

Minimum Required:

• Completion of a JRCERT approved program in Radiologic Technology and an Associate of Science Degree in Radiologic Technology.
• Registered as a Radiologic Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
• Current ARRT certification.
• Current licensure by the State of Ohio.
• Certified in BLS for healthcare workers.
• Years of Experience: 1-3 preferred, new graduates will be considered.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

• Must complete at least 24 hours of direct credit continuing education every 2 years.
• Rotates weekends and holidays; works every 3rd weekend; must be able to take call and respond within 45 minutes; may be required to work evening or night shifts to ensure adequate staffing on all shifts.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic procedures in accordance with established protocols, including reviewing patient histories and requested services.
• Explain procedures to patients and ensure they understand the procedures they are undergoing.
• Work in stressful environments such as surgery suites and the ED.
• Be exposed to ionizing radiation on a regular basis.
• Position patients and provide protection from ionizing radiation.
• Select and operate complex radiographic equipment; follow standard safety protocols for personnel using radiation-producing equipment.
• Regulate time and intensity of exposure and other technical factors on individual patients.
• Obtain radiographs using the lowest possible exposure factors.
• Review images for diagnostic acceptability.
• Prepare and administer contrast media orally and by intravenous injection under physician direction.
• Review medication reconciliation forms for patients receiving contrast.
• Practice aseptic and sterile technique to prevent the spread of disease.
• Administer or assist in administering CPR or other emergency procedures as needed.
• Maintain appropriate records and supplies.
• Instruct radiologic technology students in methods and procedures.
• Participate in continuing education activities related to the field of Radiologic Technology and its subspecialties.
• Demonstrate and maintain skills in providing care for specific age groups such as geriatric and neonatal patients through in-service and continuing education.
• Perform evaluative equipment tests and participate in quality control programs.
